Description[]
Jaroug is the most bizarre monster to dwell on Exile Island, and perhaps the entire MonsterRanch world. They are cylindrical in appearance with two fingerless arms and a long tail that they often grasp and press against their chest. They are brightly colored with a variety of hues.
Jaroug spend a majority of their life hanging upside down from the branches of trees by looping their tail over the branches then pressing their tail against their chest. Their favorite food is Emaro berries, but they will also eat any insects or meat that they can get close to their mouth. Their stomachs are able to inflate up to 3 times their normal size so during times of plentiful food it is not rare to see Jaroug with very fat bellies.
The most basic attack Jaroug uses to defend itself is 'Head Bash' which it can use by violently swinging themselves back and forth from the tree and smashing their heads into the target.
If a Jaroug falls from the tree, it is most likely to perish due to its inability to move on the ground. Ancient tamers used to travel to Exile Island to collect large quantities of naturally-deceased Jaroug to take back to the mainland. When Jaroug die their bodies become as stiff as wood, and so tamers used to clean out their bodies and use them as jars.
Almost a decade ago, a massive storm swept across Exile Island and thousands of Jaroug became detached from their host tree and perished. Their numbers still have not recovered from that incident, resulting in their current rarity.
